| Using the Dominant Path Model for Optimized Planning of Industrial Wireless Networks Whitepaper
Industrial plants are a very special kind of environment for applying empirical simulation procedures for RF coverage planning for wireless networks. Usually, indoor propagation models have been developed and studied in office environments and turn out to be too pessimistic because effects that increase the signal strength, e.g. reflections, are not sufficiently represented within the calculations. We show an improved, more realistic version of the Dominant Path Model for industrial environments and compare them to other models as well as real-world measurements.

| | MAC Authentication Whitepaper (in German)
MAC Authentication, which Cisco names "MAC Authentication Bypass", enables the integration of legacy devices into a 802.1x infrastructure. Read in this whitepaper how smoothly MAC Authentication can be applied to a Microsoft infrastructure with the help of an IAS extension.
| | Network Admission Control Whitepaper (in German)
NAC (Network Admission Control) and respectively NAP are bleeding edge technologies, that enable a better protection for corporate networks, in particular those with large mobile and external staff and computer pools. Find out in this whitepaper what NAC/NAP can do, how it works, what the technical state and the perspectives these technologies can offer to your company, too, are.

Case Studies
| | WLAN coverage for a motor engine production line
The project’s goal was the complete WLAN coverage of newly erected manufacturing premises in order to wirelessly connect various mobile end devices (inter alia handheld scanners and forklift terminals) to the central production control system and logistics. Due to the fact that the controlling of the production line unmanned transport systems is also carried out over the WLAN, there were demanding requirements to fulfill...
| | Introduction of a corporate-wide global internal Public Key Infrastructure
Certificate-based security mechanisms are being attributed an ever-growing importance within the modern corporate IT. It is indispensable for many applications that a company can issue and roll out possibly automatically a great number of certificates that are flexible and adapted to its own needs. For a globally operating company with a staff of more than 30.000 people and dozens of corporate sites an internal company PKI, acting as the foundation for a series of security-related application, had to be designed and implemented...
| | Accurate reproduction of a WAN in a simulation to study the effect of changes
The project’s objective was to reproduce an accurate image of an international corporate network with more than 30.000 IP devices in a simulation model, in which subsequently the effect of network changes (e.g. link upgrades, link failure or migration of servers) can be tested. The network simulation has to include all the WAN connections of the network and the Access Routers. The internal networks of each corporate site should be considered as a whole, i.e. not for each separate device...
| | IEEE 802.1x for LAN and WLAN
In an Industrial Park LAN with four resident companies and a total of more than 10.000 users the company networks were logically separated. At the same time, there was a noticeable improvement of the network security for LAN and WLAN especially against improper access “from the inside”. For this reason VLANs were used for the logical separation of the networks and IEEE 802.1x for the dynamic configuration and for securing the access over LAN and WLAN. The existing flexible company structures with mobile staff members were supported by an extremely flexible network infrastructure, which dynamically adapts to new circumstances...
